Job summary

Viable Engineering Solutions LLC in Orlando, FL, seeks a Robotics Software Engineer III to own the design and delivery of software subsystems for robotic automation systems, from design through commissioning, tackling loosely defined tasks, and building deep expertise in C#, robot motion, and sensor integration.

You will develop components in C#, .NET, WPF, MVVM, implement tests, integrate with six-axis robots (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa), and validate algorithms in simulation before hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development, including 2+ years in industrial robotics or automation.
• Strong proficiency in C# and object-oriented design with production software delivery.
• Experience with .NET, DI, WPF, MVVM in multi-module apps.
• Experience with Visual Studio, Git, unit testing, and code reviews.
• Solid math for robotics: linear algebra, trigonometry, coordinate transforms, and kinematics.
• Hands-on with 6-axis robots (Fanuc/ABB/KUKA/Yaskawa).
• Experience with motion control, path planning, or collision avoidance in robotic systems.
• Machine vision with OpenCV, Cognex, or Keyence; camera-to-robot calibration.
• Sensor, PLC, motor control integration and industrial protocols.
• Owned a major software subsystem through commissioning.
• CAD/CAM, robotics simulation (FANUC ROBOGUIDE) or offline programming is a plus.
• Knowledge of Fanuc DCS safety features is a plus.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and customer communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and delivery of complete software subsystems for robotic automation projects, such as robot communication, vision, or sensor integration, from design through deployment with minimal oversight.
• Take loosely defined technical tasks, work out requirements, interfaces, and acceptance criteria with the project team, estimate effort for subsystems, and raise risks early.
• Design and develop components in C#, .NET, WPF, and MVVM within the project architecture, contribute to architecture decisions, and write unit and integration tests.
• Develop software and communication interfaces for Fanuc and other 6-axis robots, including program control, I/O, data exchange, and coordination with external devices.
• Build reusable libraries and APIs for cameras, laser profilometers, ultrasonic probes, PLCs, motor controllers, and digital I/O.
• Develop and optimize path planning, motion control, collision avoidance, and offline programming features; verify in simulation before hardware.
• Implement computer vision solutions using stereo vision, image processing, and 3D localization, including camera-to-robot transforms.
• Refine calibration procedures for robot, tool, camera, and workpiece frames; measure accuracy.
• Plan and run validation testing; analyze results and recommend improvements based on accuracy, cycle-time, and reliability data.
• Conduct rapid prototypes and feasibility studies; present findings to the project team.
• Commission and troubleshoot subsystems on site, lead root-cause analysis, and contribute to system-level troubleshooting.
• Work within cell safety configurations and verify software behavior with safety interlocks.
• Participate in design and code reviews; guide newer team members on owned subsystems.
• Communicate technical details directly with customers as needed.
