Job summary

Accuray is seeking a Motion Controls & Robotics Software Engineer to design, implement and verify software that drives robotic motion for radiotherapy products. The role blends software with hardware, requiring hands‑on integration and cross‑functional collaboration across software, mechanical and electrical teams.

The candidate will translate requirements into robust, testable software, support hardware prototypes, and contribute to production launches while maintaining safety and quality

Qualifications

• BS degree in CS/Robotics or related field with software for physical systems.
• 4+ years of professional software development with electro‑mechanical or motion control systems.
• Experience turning prototypes into customer‑ready software with hardware integration.
• Cross‑disciplinary knowledge across mechanical, electrical and software engineering.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python; familiarity with Linux and RTOS environments.
• Experience with version control, code review, testing and build/release workflows.
• Strong verbal and written communication for cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop control software for robotic motion and precision positioning systems.
• Analyze, design, implement and verify software in line with product requirements.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical and Embedded teams throughout lifecycle.
• Lead tests, debugging, reliability cycling and field support activities.
• Document design outputs, troubleshooting procedures and test results.
