Job summary

Clarapath, a medical robotics company in Westchester County, NY, seeks a Software Controls Engineer to design, develop, and maintain embedded software and control systems powering SectionStar and TrimStar Pro platforms. You will work across mechanical, electrical, software, and quality teams to deliver reliable, safe, and regulatory-compliant motion control software for lab automation.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, agile development, and ongoing improvements from system architecture

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
3–7 years of experience developing embedded software or control systems.
Strong programming experience in C/C++.
Experience with embedded Linux or RTOS.
Experience developing motion control software for precision electromechanical systems.
Strong understanding of software architecture and OO design.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, implement, and maintain embedded software and control algorithms for motion control systems and actuators.
Develop software architecture and control logic using C/C++, Python, and other languages.
Design and optimize closed-loop control systems for precision motion with servos, encoders, etc.
Collaborate with Electrical and Mechanical Engineering teams to integrate hardware and software.
Develop communication interfaces using CAN, RS-232, RS-485, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C, and UART.
Create software requirements, design specs, verification protocols, and regulatory documentation.
