Job summary

Accuray is seeking a Motion Controls & Robotics Software Engineer in Madison, WI. You will design, implement, and verify software that drives electro‑mechanical and robotic motion in our radiation therapy systems.

The role requires software that interfaces with hardware, collaboration across Software, Mechanical, Electrical, and Systems Engineering, and hands‑on hardware troubleshooting. Strong OO design in C++/Python and production‑level testing are essential.

Qualifications

• BS degree in a technical field with software for physical systems.
• Min 4 years’ professional software development with electro‑mechanical or motion control systems.
• Experience taking software from prototype to customer‑ready operation with hardware interaction.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python, with OO design and testing practices.
• Collaborative across mechanical, electrical, and embedded teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate software for robotic motion and control systems.
• Define architecture with cross‑functional teams and verify against requirements.
• Create and execute test plans: unit, integration, system.
• Support hardware prototype builds, debugging, and production transfer.
• Mentor teammates and ensure quality processes are followed.
