Job summary

Accuray is seeking a Motion Controls & Robotics Software Engineer in Madison, WI to design, implement, and verify software that controls critical electro‑mechanical and robotic motion systems used in radiation therapy products.

You will collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical and Embedded teams to translate system requirements into robust software and automated tests, driving production-ready solutions with a focus on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field with coursework or experience in software for physical systems.
  • Minimum 4 years of professional software development experience with electro-mechanical, robotic, or motion control systems.
  • Experience taking software from prototype to customer-ready operation, with emphasis on safety, reliability and diagnostics.
  • Proficiency in C++ and/or Python; strong object-oriented design and debugging skills.
  • Experience with version control, build/release workflows, automated testing, and field/debug operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software for control systems including robotic manipulators, positioning, and thermal/pneumatic controls.
  • Define architecture with cross-functional teams (Software, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems).
  • Create and execute test plans (manual, automated, unit, integration, system) to verify software/hardware.
  • Collaborate with Embedded, Mechanical, Electrical and Systems teams through development lifecycle.
  • Provide guidance on field escalations and support production transfer of design outputs.
