Job summary

Walden Robotics is seeking a software-driven systems engineer to own the interface between hardware and the robot's higher-level stack. You will bring up new hardware, build drivers and data pipelines, and implement the low-level control and sensing software that makes our robots move and perceive.

This role emphasizes real-time behavior, reliable interfaces, and field-ready tooling. You will work with NVIDIA Jetson platforms, EtherCAT communication, and camera/sensor pipelines, collaborating

Qualifications

• Experience integrating sensors and actuators at software level.
• Strong C/C++ on embedded Linux with drivers/HALs.
• Experience designing real-time control loops (torque/velocity/position).
• EtherCAT master/slave stack bring-up for real-time control.
• Experience with NVIDIA Jetson platforms and CUDA integration.
• Experience with camera interfaces (GMSL) and pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead software-side integration of sensors, actuators, and compute hardware—from driver development to system-level commissioning.
• Design and tune real-time control loops for robot joints and actuators with focus on performance and safety.
• Build and maintain low-latency sensor data pipelines (cameras, LiDAR, IMUs).
• Develop low-level software for compute platforms including Jetson targets.
• Implement and optimize EtherCAT-based communication stacks and fieldbus timing.
• Collaborate with AI and software infra teams to expose hardware capabilities across the stack.
• Develop hardware-in-the-loop tooling and diagnostics.
