Job summary

Humanoid is seeking a Senior Functional Safety Engineer to join the Systems Engineering team. You will lead safety lifecycle activities for world-class robotic systems and collaborate across disciplines to ensure safety-critical requirements are met, tested, and certified.

The role emphasizes developing safety-critical subsystems for industrial and home robots, applying industry standards, and delivering comprehensive safety documentation and assurance arguments for autonomous systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in development of safety-critical systems.
• Proven record applying functional safety standards for embedded systems (e.g. IEC 61508, IEC 62061, ISO 13849, ISO 26262).
• Experience with robotics safety standards (e.g. ISO 10218, ISO 13482, ISO 3691-4).
• Experience with safety case development and certification, especially for autonomous systems.
• Familiarity with safety standards for sensors and actuators (e.g. IEC 61496, IEC 62998, IEC 61800-5-2).
• Understanding of AI functional safety standards is a plus (e.g. ISO/IEC TR 5469, ISO PAS 8800).
• Hands-on experience in design, implementation and validation of safety systems for mobile robots or dynamic systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to document and present technical analysis to executives.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support activities across the complete safety lifecycle from concept to validation and certification.
• Lead or support development of safety assurance arguments for subsystems and overall products.
• Contribute to safety concept definition and detailed technical development of safety-critical systems.
• Collaborate across disciplines to define, communicate, and validate safety requirements for sensors, controllers, actuators (hardware and software).
• Perform safety analyses like FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, etc.
• Create and maintain technical documentation to support the safety case (risk assessments, functional safety concept, SRS, verification & validation plans, test reports).
• Ensure compliance with regulations and international standards.
