Job summary

The City of Roanoke is seeking a Maintenance Technician III to join the Sign Shop section of the Transportation Division. The position involves a crew of three to five performing traffic marking and sign installation in the public right of way.

The role requires Excel, computer/iPad proficiency, MUTCD knowledge, and a Virginia intermediate work zone certification. A high school diploma or GED and 2–3 years of related experience are required; a Class B CDL is required or must be obtained within

Qualifications

Requires High School Diploma or GED and 2–3 years experience with traffic markings and signs.
Experience using Microsoft Excel and computers/iPads.
Knowledge of MUTCD and an intermediate work zone certification recognized by VDOT.
Valid Class B CDL required or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

Maintain daily/weekly/monthly spreadsheets of traffic marking records and reports.
Operate long-line striping truck for traffic marking operations.
Assist with scheduling department work assignments.
Create and close work orders in an asset management database.
Participate in snow removal operations.
Provide standby emergency barricade call duty as needed.
Work with a crew to perform maintenance and construction tasks.
