Job summary

City of Round Rock is seeking a Senior Signs & Markings Technician to lead the crew in sign replacement, installation, and maintenance. The role emphasizes CAD/GIS usage, standard-compliant sign fabrication, and data collection for traffic analysis.

The position requires leadership, planning, and a strong safety mindset. A Class A CDL and IMSA certifications are preferred, with the city offering opportunities for advancement and alignment with MUTCD standards.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED. Some college preferred.
• Two (2) years of construction experience, signs & markings experience, or closely related field.
• IMSA certifications preferred (III, Work Zone, Tech II).
• Class A commercial Texas Driver's License or ability to obtain in 90 days.
• IMSA Signage knowledge and standards familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Lead technician for signs and markings crew; plan and organize sign replacement schedule.
• Fabricate, install, and maintain signs using Traffic CAD; use GIS for inventory management.
• Install and maintain pavement markings with thermal/paint machines; install preformed symbols; stripe lanes.
• Handle special projects by installing traffic analysis equipment and collecting data.
• Assist in training staff; monitor safety of workers; participate in emergencies; ensure compliance with standards.
