Job summary

STV Incorporated in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer / Project Manager to lead complex roadway design projects, mentor junior engineers, and strengthen client relationships across Virginia.

You will serve as Engineer of Record, manage budgets and schedules, and coordinate with traffic, drainage, structures, and environmental teams to deliver high‑quality, compliant roadway solutions while advancing STV’s Virginia practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• Virginia PE license required.
• 10+ years of roadway/highway design experience, including VDOT projects.
• Experience delivering highways, local roads, interchanges, and related infrastructure.
• Familiarity with VDOT and AASHTO design standards.
• Hands-on experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage roadway design projects, including complex assignments such as bus rapid transit systems.
• Serve as Project Manager or Roadway Task Lead, guiding projects from concept through delivery.
• Act as Engineer of Record, signing and sealing roadway design plans and design exceptions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated solutions.
• Provide quality control and ensure designs meet VDOT and AASHTO standards.
• Partner with senior leadership on budgets, schedules, proposals, and project delivery plans.
• Mentor and develop junior staff and help grow the Virginia practice.
• Support business development through technical proposals and client pursuits.
