Job summary

Mead & Hunt is seeking an Experienced Roadway Engineer to join our Transportation team in the Washington, D.C. metro area, with responsibilities across Columbia, MD; Herndon, VA; and Washington, DC.

You will lead roadway design efforts from feasibility through final design, leveraging MicroStation and ORD to deliver high-quality plans and reports. Ideal candidates hold a PE license, 4+ years of roadway design experience, and strong collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university
• At least 4 years of relevant roadway design experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• Maryland PE or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date

Responsibilities

• Perform roadway design from feasibility studies through final design
• Develop plans, specifications, and estimates for transportation projects
• Produce roadway alignments, profiles, and 3D models
• Prepare quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and design reports
• Develop and review plan sets and associated design documents
• Utilize MicroStation and InRoads/OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for design and plans production
• Participate in design meetings and coordinate with project team
• Serve as roadway task or project lead and grow toward a PM role
• Other duties as assigned
