Job summary

CDM Smith's Nashville, TN CEI team is seeking an Inspector to monitor highway construction activities at project sites. The role requires evaluating materials and processes against plans, specs, and provisions, with travel 20-40%.

You will review drawings, document inspection results, and communicate findings to supervision. Candidates should have a High School diploma, related experience, and relevant certifications with a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by client or jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 6 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to evaluate if materials and construction conform to plans, specifications, and provisions.
• Uses higher grade equipment and performs complex calculations for construction inspection.
• Works under limited or direct supervision depending on assignment.
• Review drawings to prepare for the construction inspection.
• Understands the design of the construction that will be inspected.
• Document and communicate inspection results to the supervisor.
