Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a CEI Inspector to join our Chattanooga team. You will inspect highway construction activities at project sites and perform complex inspections across multiple categories. Travel to various sites (approximately 20%–40%) is required, with supervision tailored to assignment.

Applicants should read plans and drawings, interpret contracts, and communicate clearly in writing and speech. Qualified candidates typically hold a high school diploma and relevant certifications

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent, with required certifications as applicable.
• Experience or certifications in highway construction are valued.
• Ability to read plans, drawings, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and monitor construction activities at project sites.
• Perform the most complex inspections for at least 2 of 5 categories (Roadway, Bridges, Drainage, Erosion & Control, Maintenance & Traffic).
• Read and interpret construction plans, contract provisions and specs; communicate findings clearly.
