Bondaval is hiring a Senior Risk Underwriter to own underwriting decisions on our Americas book, from new deals through renewals, within appetite and governance standards.

As the Americas book grows, you will operate close to the commercial team, brokers, and clients, delivering decisions that align with capacity providers’ expectations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in risk underwriting, ideally in trade credit insurance.
• Deep knowledge of the North American credit environment, including US insolvency regimes.
• Analytical writing that wins approval: papers and justifications capacity providers trust.
• Confidence underwriting across jurisdictions with different credit and legal environments.
• Sound independent judgement, and the sense to know when to elevate.

Responsibilities

• Own risk evaluation and underwriting for new and existing Americas transactions.
• Present transactions to the Underwriting Committee with clear analysis papers and justifications for capacity providers.
• Monitor the portfolio for emerging risks and appetite breaches; recommend actions.
• Track portfolio metrics and data trends for leadership review by the Group VP of Risk Underwriting.
• Lead renewal reviews and execution for Americas clients.
• Build relationships with brokers, insurers and clients across the region.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to embed underwriting judgement into the platform.

About the Role

We are hiring a Senior Risk Underwriter to own underwriting decisions on our Americas book, from new deals through to renewals, within our risk appetite and governance standards.

As our Americas book grows, we need senior underwriting judgement on the ground: close to our Americas commercial team, the brokers we work through, and the clients they serve.

In year one, success means an Americas portfolio performing within appetite, and Underwriting Committee papers that capacity providers approve with confidence.

Key Responsibilities

• Own risk evaluation and underwriting decisions on new and existing Americas transactions across multi-buyer, select risk and single obligor programmes.
• Present transactions to the Underwriting Committee, backed by clear analysis papers and justifications for capacity providers.
• Monitor the portfolio for emerging risks and appetite breaches, and recommend action.
• Track and report portfolio metrics and data trends to the Group VP of Risk Underwriting.
• Lead renewal reviews and execution for Americas clients.
• Build strong working relationships with brokers, insurers and clients across the region.
• Partner with product and engineering to build underwriting judgement into our platform and tools.

About You

Required:

• 5+ years in risk underwriting, ideally in trade credit insurance.
• Deep knowledge of the North American credit environment, including US insolvency regimes.
• Analytical writing that wins approval: papers and justifications capacity providers trust.
• Confidence underwriting across jurisdictions with different credit and legal environments.
• Sound independent judgement, and the sense to know when to elevate.

Nice to have:

• Understanding of policy structures, contract wordings and legal considerations in credit risk.
• Experience working with brokers and capacity providers.
• Latin American risk experience; Spanish or Portuguese a plus.
