Job summary

Bondaval is hiring a Risk Underwriter to analyse and underwrite Americas risks within delegated authority, working alongside our senior underwriters in the US and London. You will contribute to building out the US underwriting team as the Americas book grows and own your papers to the Underwriting Committee.

In year one, success means owning a share of the Americas portfolio independently and presenting to the committee, with a focus on disciplined decision-making and strong financial analysis.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in credit underwriting or credit analysis in trade credit, banking or insurance.

About the Role

We are hiring a Risk Underwriter to analyse and underwrite Americas risks within delegated authority, working alongside our senior underwriters in the US and London.

We are building out our US underwriting team as the Americas book grows. This role adds the analytical capacity to keep decisions fast and disciplined.

In year one, success means owning a share of the Americas portfolio independently and taking your own papers to the Underwriting Committee.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse and underwrite new and on-boarded Americas risks within delegated authority.
• Carry out detailed buyer credit analysis: financials, sector, country and payment behaviour.
• Prepare transaction papers for the Underwriting Committee, and present them.
• Monitor the Americas portfolio for emerging risks and recommend action.

About You

Required:

• 3+ years in credit underwriting or credit analysis, ideally in trade credit insurance, a bank or a credit insurer.
• Working knowledge of the North American credit environment, including US insolvency regimes.
• Strong financial analysis and sound commercial judgement.
• Clear, concise writing that turns analysis into a well-argued recommendation.
• Comfort working in a team split across US and UK time zones.

Nice to have:

• Experience with trade credit, surety or credit insurance policy structures and wordings.
• Experience working with brokers and capacity providers.
• Latin American risk experience; Spanish or Portuguese a plus.
