Job summary

Bondaval is seeking a Senior Risk Underwriter to own underwriting decisions on our Americas book, working close to the Americas commercial team, brokers, and clients. Success in year one means an appetite-aligned portfolio and Committee papers approved by capacity providers.

You will help maintain underwriting discipline and contribute to growth across multi-buyer, select risk and single obligor programmes in North America.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in risk underwriting for trade credit/insurance.
• Deep knowledge of the North American credit environment, including US insolvency regimes.
• Analytical writing that earns approval from capacity providers.
• Confidence underwriting across jurisdictions with varying credit and legal systems.
• Sound independent judgement and knowing when to escalate.

Responsibilities

• Own risk evaluation and underwriting decisions on new and existing Americas transactions.
• Present transactions to the Underwriting Committee with analysis papers and justifications.
• Monitor the portfolio for emerging risks and appetite breaches; recommend actions.
• Track and report portfolio metrics and data trends to the Group VP of Risk Underwriting.
• Lead renewal reviews and execution for Americas clients.
• Build strong relationships with brokers, insurers and clients across the region.
• Partner with product and engineering to embed underwriting judgement into our platform.
