Job summary

Cajun Industries, LLC is seeking an experienced Risk Manager to lead the enterprise risk program across heavy civil, industrial, mechanical, fabrication, and marine operations in Baton Rouge. You will work with operations, finance, legal, and insurance partners to protect employees, projects, and assets.

The role requires expertise in workers' compensation, general liability, and marine-related insurances, plus strong analytic and communication skills to support risk transfer and contract risk

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Finance, Construction Management, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in risk management, insurance, claims, or related discipline.
• Experience with construction, industrial, energy, manufacturing, or marine operations preferred.
• Experience managing workers' compensation and general liability programs.
• Group captive insurance program experience is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of contracts, insurance requirements, indemnification, and risk transfer.
• Experience managing complex claims with third-party administrators, carriers, brokers, and legal counsel.
• Strong analytical skills, incl. loss runs, claims data, reserves, and financial information.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work with senior leadership and field operations.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve Cajun's enterprise risk management program.
• Identify and evaluate operational, project, contractual, financial, environmental, and other risks.
• Partner with operational leaders to identify exposures early and mitigate.
• Serve as internal resource for group captive workers' comp and GL program.
• Prepare for and participate in captive meetings, stewardship reviews, underwriting discussions.
• Ensure accurate submission of underwriting, exposure, payroll, claims data to the captive.
• Review marine exposures: GL, P&I, hull and machinery, builders risk, pollution liability.
• Coordinate with project management, marine operations, and contract teams on marine-related risks.
• Maintain relationships with insurance and brokerage partners for coverage and risk mitigation.
• Oversee workers' compensation and general liability claims from reporting to resolution.
• Partner with claims admins, attorneys, adjusters, medical providers, and internal stakeholders.
• Review insurance requirements in contracts, projects, customers, subcontractors, vendors.
• Work with legal and project teams on indemnification, additional insured, waivers, limitations of liability.
• Coordinate project-specific insurance requirements, including builder's risk and specialty coverages.
• Monitor renewals, coverage requirements, certificates, and documentation.
• Lead annual insurance renewal strategy, present options to executive management.
