Job summary

M&T Bank in Buffalo, NY seeks a senior risk professional to lead first line of defense initiatives within the business unit and coordinate with risk and control functions. You will implement risk programs, document key processes, monitor KRIs, and drive remediation while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include executing control testing, reporting findings to management, and guiding remediation plans to strengthen the risk framework and maintain audit readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant work experience, or 9 years combined higher ed/work, incl. 5+ years in risk.
• Minimum 2 years in risk identification, mitigation, RCSA or related disciplines.
• Familiarity with Corporate Services risk areas and compliance/operational risks is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Execute risk initiatives and document key business processes.
• Plan, execute, and report on the risk-based testing program and perform control testing.
• Review testing results and communicate findings to management.
• Monitor KRIs and recommend risk control improvements.
• Complete Risk Control Self Assessments and other risk reports.
• Develop remediation plans and ensure timely completion.
• Ensure adherence to policies and respond to internal/external requests.
• Support audit points and regulatory responses.
