Job summary

M&T Bank in Buffalo, New York, is seeking a senior risk professional to implement defined first line of defense risk management initiatives within the business unit and to act as SME for execution of risk controls and remediation projects.

The role leads risk-based testing, documents key processes, monitors KRIs, completes RCSAs, and escalates risk events while ensuring adherence to enterprise risk framework and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in risk identification, risk mitigation, risk and control self-assessment, or related disciplines
• Experience in understanding Corporate Services (Third Party Risk Management, Corporate Real Estate, and the like) and the Compliance and Operational risks associated therein is helpful

Responsibilities

• Execute risk initiatives that this position leads or for which their team is responsible to conduct. Document key business processes accurately.
• Plan, execute and report risk-based testing; perform control testing according to First Line of Defense Guidance and professional standards.
• Review testing results, identify issues, and communicate findings to management.
• Monitor KRIs and recommend enhancements to strengthen risk controls.
• Complete Risk Control Self Assessments (RCSAs) and other risk management reporting; assist in escalation of risk events and loss events.
• Identify emerging risks and remediation needs for new products/services/markets/channels; develop remediation plans.
• Oversee adherence to policies and procedures and respond to internal/external requests regarding processes.
• Maintain internal control standards and address audit/regulator points as applicable.
• Promote M&T Bank brand and foster an inclusive work environment.
