Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Principal Auditor to join its Audit function. The role focuses on Second Line and First Line risk management audits, with SME advisory to other teams.

You will lead audits, plan engagements, design procedures, document evidence, and coach junior staff in a hybrid Charlotte, NC environment. The ideal candidate has 4+ years in auditing or risk management, banking experience, and professional certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or military experience required.
• 1+ year of Enterprise Risk Management or Operational Risk Management experience.
• 1+ year of leading audits and acting as auditor-in-charge preferred.
• 2+ years of banking or financial services experience preferred.
• 4+ years in internal audit or risk management (or combination with Big Four).
• Master’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or MBA preferred.
• CIA/CPA or relevant certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead small audits or own significant components of larger audits.
• Develop engagement planning documentation and audit programs.
• Design and execute audit procedures to verify internal controls and frameworks.
• Document work thoroughly and draft audit findings.
• Maintain good client and team relations and communicate audit progress.
• Provide coaching and feedback to audit staff.
• Support data analytics and leverage technology to improve audits.
