Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace in Richardson, TX seeks a Lead Engineer Technician II to support GaN/GaAs MMIC technology development for defense radar and space systems. You will lead RF testing, fixture design, and complex failure analysis, collaborating across engineering to transition designs to production.

The role emphasizes precision under microscopes, calibration, and rigorous documentation to enable reliable transitions from development to production in a fast-paced, collaborative lab environment.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years RF experience.
  • 6+ years advanced proficiency with RF/microwave test equipment (VNA, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, calibration standards).
  • 6+ years deep expertise in S-parameters, large-signal, linearity, noise figure, spurious characterization, RF troubleshooting.
  • 6+ years performing precision work under a microscope with sub-micron geometries.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and work from schematics, layouts, and technical drawings.
  • Mastery of electronics theory with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform RF characterization of MMICs and MCMs (PAs, LNAs, signal control devices).
  • Set up and calibrate test equipment; execute S-parameter, output power, noise figure, and two-tone measurements.
  • Conduct on-wafer testing and support test fixture design and assembly.
  • Perform light RF/microwave assembly work, including wire bonding of test assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot complex RF circuits and assemblies with strong diagnostic skills.
  • Execute failure analysis and document results in technical reports with traceability.
  • Maintain test documentation and data integrity; ensure procedural compliance.
  • Manage lab operations: calibration tracking, vendor coordination, procurement support, continuous improvement.
