Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking an RF PCBA Design and Test Engineer to own the PCB lifecycle for high‑reliability RF/mixed-signal CCAs and integrated RF systems. You will define stack-ups, layout rules, and perform SI/PI/RF verification, collaborating with fabs to ensure Class 3 production quality.

The role requires 8+ years in RF/microwave PCB development, proficiency with ECAD/tools, and capability to automate data pipelines (Python/LabVIEW). TS/SCI clearance is preferred. Competitive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in RF/microwave and mixed-signal PCB development for high-reliability products.
• Proven expertise in RF board layout for multiband front-ends and high-speed digital.
• Hands-on with hybrid stack-ups, controlled impedance design, and thermal/shielding practices.
• Proficiency with ECAD suites and analysis tools (ADS/HFSS/CST).
• Experience automating instruments and data pipelines (Python/LabVIEW).
• Ability to obtain a DoD Top-Secret/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Define RF stack-up, impedance, vias, and finishes to meet RF targets.
• Partition boards for RF, mixed-signal, and high-speed digital with proper shielding and thermal control.
• Establish and enforce RF layout rules and high-speed constraints.
• Perform SI/PI/RF simulations to predict loss, return loss, and PDN impedance.
• Lead schematic capture, library governance, and DRC/DFM sign-off.
• Run design reviews and manage BOMs, ECOs, and PLM histories.
• Own fab/assembly drawing packages, stack-up notes, and testability features.
• Collaborate with fabs/CMs on Class 3 builds and tolerances.
• Plan board bring-up and define acceptance tests with RF testing.
• Architect automated test sequences for VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and more.
