Vaco by Highspring is seeking an Interim Senior Revenue & Commissions Accountant to support a growing tech company in San Francisco. The role emphasizes the development and maintenance of revenue and commission schedules, with a near-term close calendar and audit-ready documentation.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of accounting experience, hands-on revenue recognition or commissions work, and advanced Excel skills to manage data across contracts and payroll.

Qualifikationen

• 5+ years progressive accounting experience, preferably in tech/high-growth environments.
• Direct hands-on experience with revenue recognition and/or commissions accounting, including ASC 606 or ASC 340-40.
• Ability to independently build and maintain revenue schedules, deferred commission schedules, reconciliations, and related workpapers.
• Strong month-end close experience, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting support, and audit-ready documentation.
• Advanced Excel and data-management skills across contracts, billing, payroll, and other complex source files.

Aufgaben

• Prepare and maintain commissions accounting schedules, including capitalization, amortization, accruals, payroll tie-outs, and related reconciliations.
• Support revenue recognition activities, including revenue schedules, deferred revenue reconciliations, and analysis of customer arrangements.
• Review executed contracts and related data to identify discrepancies between contractual terms, billing activity, commissions, and accounting records.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analyses, and supporting workpapers as part of the monthly close.
• Independently maintain assigned accounting schedules and ensure deliverables are complete, well-supported, and submitted within close deadlines.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, contract support, reconciliations, and audit-ready documentation.
• Investigate accounting discrepancies and partner with Finance stakeholders to resolve unusual or non-standard transactions.
• Document accounting processes and develop procedures that improve consistency, accuracy, and continuity.
• Identify opportunities to improve manual workflows, reconciliations, controls, and accounting efficiency.
• Utilize financial systems and advanced spreadsheet tools to organize, validate, and reconcile data across multiple sources.
