Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking an Accounting Manager in San Francisco for a hybrid role requiring on-site presence several days per week. You will lead the full accounting cycle, drive the month-end close, and partner with operational leaders to deliver accurate project and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate has construction accounting experience, strong knowledge of billing, payroll, job costing, and WIP reporting, and a track record of process improvement in a growing organization.

Qualifications

• Progressive accounting experience with full-cycle month-end close.
• Construction or project-based accounting including job costing and WIP reporting.
• Strong knowledge of GL, AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Proven ability to improve processes, shorten close timelines and strengthen controls.
• Hands-on leadership and collaboration with project managers and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly close process and improve timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting.
• Oversee general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, accru als, and schedules.
• Manage project billing, job costing, and WIP reporting for accurate project costs.
• Ensure AP/AR, payroll, and cash activities are recorded and integrated in close.
• Partner with project managers to review performance, investigate variances, and resolve issues.
• Prepare financial reports and insights on project profitability and cash flow.
• Coordinate with external accounting, payroll, tax, and audit providers.
• Develop and improve accounting policies, controls, and scalable workflows.
• Identify opportunities to use technology and automation to enhance efficiency.
