Job summary

NBT Bank is seeking a Retirement Plan Senior Specialist to serve as the subject matter expert for plan documents, ensuring accurate interpretation of ERISA/IRS guidance and applying provisions across the firm's book of business.

You will design plan structures, lead sponsor discussions, and drive document initiatives, including amendments and restatements, while providing training and guidance to staff across departments.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of 401(k) and 403(b) plan design, document provisions, compliance, and fiduciary topics.
• Ability to independently interpret ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and IRS/DOL guidance and apply to plan documents.
• Ability to lead plan design consultations with sponsors and advisors translating design objectives into compliant requirements.
• Ability to scope, plan, and drive firm-wide document projects across departments and locations.

Responsibilities

• Apply plan provisions and regulatory requirements across the firm’s book of business.
• Design plan structures and discuss with sponsors and advisors, translating decisions into documents and operations.
• Monitor and implement legislative/regulatory changes affecting plan documents; lead amendments and restatements.
