Job summary

NBT is seeking a Senior Benefits Administrator to manage complex plan documents and lead firm-wide document projects. You will interpret ERISA, IRC, and IRS/DOL guidance to ensure compliant plan operations across locations and assist sponsors with design objectives.

You will also develop training, maintain drafting standards, and drive continuous improvement in plan document workflows while coordinating cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and eight years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Advanced knowledge of 401(k) and 403(b) plan design, document provisions, compliance, and fiduciary topics.
• Ability to interpret ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and IRS/DOL guidance and apply to plan documents.
• Strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Applies plan provisions, ERISA, and IRC requirements; resolves complex document issues and ensures consistency and compliance.
• Designs plan structures and provisions with plan sponsors and advisors; translates decisions into document, system and administrative requirements.
• Monitors and implements changes affecting plan documents, including SECURE 2.0 and restatement cycles; leads amendment projects.
• Develops and delivers technical training and guidance on plan documents and regulatory changes.
• Evaluates and enhances plan document systems, workflows, and tools to improve accuracy and scalability.
