Job summary

Moran Environmental Recovery, LLC is seeking a Benefits Specialist to manage operational and analytical tasks for our total rewards program in Jacksonville, FL. The role focuses on hands-on retirement plan administration, including 401(k) and SERP, alongside HSA funding and complex reconciliations.

You will configure UKG Pro, conduct benefit audits, support ACA compliance, and coordinate with brokers, recordkeepers, TPAs, and carriers.

Qualifications

• 4–6+ years of direct experience in employee benefits administration with strong exposure to retirement plan operations and financial reconciliation.
• High proficiency in UKG Pro (Benefits Setup/Admin) and advanced Excel skills.
• Deep knowledge of 401(k) mechanics, SERP, NDT concepts, ACA reporting rules, Form 5500 preparation, ERISA compliance, and payroll deduction structures.
• Experience handling complex billing reconciliations, GL feeds, and leave laws (FMLA/ADA).

Responsibilities

• Advanced 401(k) and SERP administration.
• Perform payroll-to-recordkeeper reconciliations and contributions funding.
• Monitor LTPT eligibility and automatic enrollment features.
• Audit participant status flags and deferral rate changes.
• Oversee SERP administration, contributions, vesting, and distributions.
• Coordinate and support non-discrimination testing (NDT).
• Calculate and audit annual discretionary match.
• Oversee missed benefits deduction processes and payroll corrections.
• Prepare retirement communications and plan documents.
• Lead annual 401(k) plan audits and Form 5500 filings.
• Manage HSA funding files and reconciliations.
• Lead ACA administration including measurement period tracking and 1094-C/1095-C filings.
• Conduct enrollment audits and ensure data accuracy across systems.
• Support employee education programs on benefits.
• Respond to escalated benefit inquiries with SMEs and carriers.
• Handle special HR/benefits projects.
