Job summary

Darkroom is seeking a sharp, brand-obsessed Retention Specialist to own voice across a high-growth consumer tech client. You will craft email and SMS copy, guide creative, and drive a scalable marketing calendar in a remote-first environment.

You’ll work across lead capture, welcome series, activation, loyalty, and subscription messaging, with a focus on clarity, consistency, and performance. Strong SaaS writing and segmentation are essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of experience writing marketing copy for email, SMS, or lifecycle marketing.
• Proven ability to write short-form copy across subject lines, preheaders, body, CTAs, and SMS.
• Ability to explain a technical product clearly and drive conversions without jargon.
• Experience composing lead capture, welcome series, first-conversion, onboarding, loyalty, and win-back messaging.
• Strong segmentation thinking and ability to tailor copy for distinct audiences.

Responsibilities

• Write email and SMS copy for campaigns, flows, and automations from lead capture to activation and loyalty.
• Develop and maintain a marketing calendar and sequence campaigns against strategy.
• Create clear creative briefs and provide actionable feedback on layout, hierarchy, and imagery.
• Review designs in Figma and ensure copy and visuals align with brand voice.
• Own the brand voice and copy guidelines, sustaining consistency as versions multiply.
• Collaborate with CRM teams to align copy, segmentation logic, and dynamic content.
