Job summary

Mars Men is seeking aRetention Copywriter to own all customer-facing messages after the first click across email and SMS. You will manage the full lifecycle, from welcome to winback, while collaborating with a designer and an implementer in a remote team.

You’ll craft subject lines, body copy, and CTAs, run tests, and adapt messages to segment-specific needs. Compliance with guardrails is essential, with a focus on subscription and replenishment programs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of direct response copywriting for DTC, ecommerce, or agency environments.
• Portfolio with meaningful email and SMS work and proven results.
• Ability to write in a defined brand voice from research documents.
• Working familiarity with Klaviyo or comparable ESP and flows.
• Strong understanding of consumer psychology and persuasive communication.
• Experience writing for subscription or replenishment businesses.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, remote environment.
• Self-starter who embraces feedback and thrives in high-growth teams.

Responsibilities

• Write email and SMS copy across lifecycle: welcome, abandonment, post-purchase, replenishment, subscription upsell, winback, and cancel-save.
• Own the weekly campaign calendar copy: subject lines, preview text, body, and CTAs for prospects and active subscribers.
• Run tests, form hypotheses, write variants, read results, and roll winners into evergreen flows.
• Adapt proven acquisition angles into retention without recycling ad copy verbatim.
• Write to segment so different customers receive tailored messages.
• Maintain compliance with guardrails and approved claims.
• Brief the designer and implementer from project start to align copy, layout, and build.
