Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to assist in diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with pulmonary disorders. You will collect samples to determine gas levels and assess lung function, then administer prescribed treatments and supervise RT staff.

Weekend, holiday, and disaster response coverage may be required based on department needs. This on-site role requires SC licensure, NBRC-registered credentials, and a current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Licensed respiratory care practitioner in South Carolina.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with NBRC credential.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross).

Responsibilities

• Assist in diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders.
• Collect and analyze sputum, blood, and breath samples to measure gas levels.
• Measure lung capacity to assess function and impairment.
• Administer physician-prescribed treatments and oversee respiratory therapy staff.
• Weekend/holiday/disaster response coverage as needed.
