Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Respiratory Therapist to assist in diagnosis, treatment, and management of pulmonary disorders. You will collect sputum, blood, and breath samples and measure lung capacity to guide care.

You will administer physician-prescribed therapies, supervise respiratory therapy technicians, and participate in weekend/holiday/emergency coverage. This on-site role requires applicable credentials and state licensure, with 36 hours weekly on the night shift.

Qualifications

• AAS in Respiratory Care from an AMA approved school is required.
• Licensure: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT).
• Licensed by the Board of Medical Examiners of SC.
• 0-2 years of experience; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; NBRC licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in diagnosis, treatment, and management of pulmonary disorders.
• Collect and analyze sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine gas levels.
• Measure lung capacity to assess impairment.
• Administer treatments prescribed by physicians and supervise respiratory therapy technicians.
• Weekends/holidays/emergency on-call coverage as required.
