Job summary

MUHA’s Respiratory Care team at MUSC Health seeks an experienced Respiratory Therapist to assist in diagnosing and treating pulmonary disorders. The role includes collecting specimens, measuring lung capacity, and administering prescribed treatments to patients with breathing abnormalities.

The position requires an AAS in Respiratory Care, NBRC-acknowledged licensure (RRT/CRT), and SC licensure, with current BLS certification and 0–2 years of practice.

Qualifications

• AAS in Respiratory Care from an AMA approved school.
• Licensure as RRT or CRT by NBRC is required.
• SC Board of Medical Examiners licensure is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in diagnosis, treatment, and management of pulmonary disorders.
• Collect and analyze sputum, blood, and breath specimens.
• Measure lung capacity to assess impairment.
• Administer physician-prescribed respiratory care treatments.
• Oversee respiratory therapy technicians and weekend/holiday/emergency shifts.
