Job summary

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) invites applications for a full-time Senior Planning Engineer, Resource Planning, focused on probabilistic assessments for resource adequacy.

The role requires expertise in long-term reliability, modeling with tools like MARS, SERVM, and Plexos, and collaboration across CSPP components while working primarily from the Rensselaer, NY area with some remote days.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering; MS preferred.
• At least five years of power system planning experience for Senior level.
• Experience with resource adequacy assessments using GE MARS, Plexos, SERVM or similar tools.
• Knowledge of MATLAB and/or Python; NPCC, NERC, NYSRC or FERC requirements desired.
• Associate or Engineer level applicants encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Act as SME for resource adequacy system analysis and modeling.
• Apply NYISO tariffs to planning processes and studies.
• Develop reports, manuals, and procedures.
• Develop and adapt complex resource adequacy models for long-term planning.
• Lead resource adequacy analyses in CSPP components and reporting.
