Placements24 is seeking a Reservoir Simulation Engineer for a hybrid position based in Randburg, Gauteng. The role focuses on building, calibrating, and running reservoir models to forecast hydrocarbon recovery and optimize field development strategies.

Collaboration with geologists and engineers is essential to integrate data and deliver actionable insights. The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s or PhD in Petroleum Engineering with 7+ years of experience, strong technical skills in

Qualifications

Master's degree or PhD in Petroleum Engineering or related field.
7+ years of reservoir engineering with a focus on simulation.
Proficiency with Eclipse, Petrel RE, CMG and Intersect.
Solid understanding of reservoir physics and numerical methods.
Experience with history matching and uncertainty analysis.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Develop, initialize, and calibrate static and dynamic reservoir simulation models.
Run numerical simulations to forecast reservoir performance under development scenarios.
Analyze results to understand reservoir behavior and optimize production.
Collaborate with geologists, petrophysicists, and engineers to integrate data into models.
Generate detailed reports and presentations for management and technical teams.
Assist in data acquisition planning to support model refinement.
Evaluate impact of recovery methods (e.g., EOR) using simulations.
Stay current with advances in reservoir simulation technologies.
