Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Reservoir Engineer to join our upstream exploration and production division in Randburg, Gauteng. You will lead the development and refinement of reservoir models, forecast performance, and guide development strategies.

The ideal candidate has a strong track record with reservoir simulation tools (ECLIPSE, INTERSECT, CMG Suite), deep knowledge of reservoir characterization and petrophysics, and excellent analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master's degree is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in reservoir engineering within the oil and gas industry.
• Proven expertise in reservoir simulation software (e.g., ECLIPSE, INTERSECT, CMG Suite).
• Strong understanding of reservoir characterization, petrophysics, fluid properties, and production engineering.
• Experience with economic evaluation tools and methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical data effectively.
• Ability to work independently and lead technical initiatives within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed reservoir models using industry-standard simulation software.
• Analyze production data, well logs, and seismic information to characterize reservoirs.
• Perform material balance and decline curve analyses to forecast future reservoir performance.
• Evaluate and recommend optimal development strategies, including well placement and production schemes.
• Conduct economic evaluations of development projects and exploration prospects.
• Identify opportunities for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and implement appropriate techniques.
• Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, and production engineers to ensure integrated project execution.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for management and partners.
• Mentor junior reservoir engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in reservoir engineering techniques and technologies.
