Job summary

Northwestern University in Evanston is seeking a Senior Technical Support Specialist, Research to manage, coordinate, and support IT systems within academic research facilities and cores. You will ensure reliability, security, and compliance with data standards (CUI/NIST 800-171, HIPAA, FISMA) while partnering with campus units to deliver end-user support for staff and faculty.

This role reports to the Research Facility IT Services Manager and offers broad opportunities to shape research IT

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of technical support experience.
• Experience in research environments and data security is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Recommend and implement research IT initiatives for endpoints and data workflows.
• Document IT inventory and user requirements.
• Manage projects and coordinate with internal/external clients.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting for complex issues.
• Secure endpoints and ensure compliance with data standards.
• Coordinate training and deliver technical presentations.
