Job summary

Northwestern University is seeking a Senior Technical Support Specialist for research IT systems across campus facilities, reporting to the Research Facility IT Services Manager. The role ensures secure, reliable support for staff and faculty in labs, cores, and offices.

You will lead planning and administration of endpoint technology, coordinate projects with researchers and IT partners, provide advanced troubleshooting, and deliver training while adhering to data standards such as HIPAA/NIST

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in IT or related field.
• 5 years of experience in technical support or user service in an IT environment.
• Experience as both end-user and administrator in service areas such as user support, desktop support, help desk management, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Recommend, plan, and implement administrative and research-based technology initiatives for endpoints, research IT devices, and data workflows.
• Document IT inventory, data workflow, and unique research and business needs for assigned areas/departments.
• Manage and coordinate projects with internal/external clients to meet goals.
• Coordinate and deliver training for departmental staff, faculty, and other users.
• Develop and deliver technical presentations, educational and training materials.
• Coordinate projects with users to deliver optimum service for installation, maintenance, and integration of standard endpoint technology.
• Test, implement, and evaluate systems and service results.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting support for complex problems and inquiries.
• Provide endpoint support for non-standard workstations in research facilities and secure endpoints per data standards.
