Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Research Specialist V on the Applied Statistics & Evaluation Team in Austin. The role conducts advanced research and evaluation projects, designs studies, analyzes data, and prepares reports for state legislative entities, federal partners, and HHSC departments.

The candidate will develop survey instruments, apply statistical methods, and provide technical assistance across divisions.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in statistics, public health, or public policy; or a Bachelor’s with two years of research experience.
• Strong analytic skills and a commitment to growth; desire to improve Texan well‑being.
• Experience with data analysis and reporting for policy or program evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Conducts advanced research/evaluation designs, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for legislative and agency audiences.
• Respond to ad‑hoc data analysis requests and provide methodological support.
• Collaborate with HHSC divisions and external partners to inform decisions.
