Job summary

Arizona Public Service (APS) in Phoenix seeks a Supervisor of Engineering to lead the engineering services within the department. You will oversee technical work, manage projects, and ensure profitability, schedules, and budgets for customers and stakeholders.

The role requires a four-year engineering degree, 5+ years of experience, and strong people and contract/communication skills. A PE license is preferred; hybrid work is available with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Four-year Bachelor's degree in Engineering from ABET-accredited or IEA-recognized institution.
• Five years of engineering experience; degree from an accredited program.
• Master's degree may substitute for one year of experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Broad knowledge of engineering disciplines related to electric utilities.
• Excellent people management, communication (oral and written), and organizational skills.
• Understanding of contract development and negotiation strategies; proven customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Supervises department engineering work to ensure technical soundness, cost effectiveness, and schedule/budget commitments.
• Develops plans and proposals meeting customer needs, profitability, and appropriate risk for the company.
• Monitors expenditures to ensure prudent use of company money and resources.
• Maintains a technically competent department and develops a multi-discipline staff.
• Provides consulting and maintains communication with industry; investigates new technologies.
• Prepares detailed lists and cost estimates; ensures plant documents are maintained.
