Job summary

WM seeks a Sr Legal Counsel – Renewable Energy Transactions to support the company’s renewable energy group. The role focuses on transactional work, energy trading, and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in energy transactions, JD, and Texas bar licensure, with experience in natural gas, power, ISDAs, and NAESBs; familiarity with EPA, FERC, CFTC, DOE, and state PUCs is highly valued.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience in energy transactions.
• Experience with natural gas, power, and energy trading contracts.
• Regulatory exposure to EPA, FERC, CFTC, ISO/RTOs and state PUCs.
• Experience supporting marketing/trading activity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day legal support to commodity traders, marketers, and schedulers in Houston.
• Draft/negotiate energy commodity agreements and credit documents.
• Negotiate transportation/storage and related agreements.
• Advise on regulatory and commercial issues with internal clients.
