Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a VistA Transition SME to support the VA Health Portfolio. This senior technical role analyzes, plans, coordinates, and executes activities for transitioning legacy VistA applications during EHR modernization, collaborating with project leaders, data analysts, and site personnel.

The position is fully remote within the United States with core hours 8:00 AM–5:00 PM ET and occasional weekend support.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, CS, systems, business, or related field.
15+ years of relevant work experience.
US Citizenship required and ability to obtain Public Trust.
Experience with VistA, HL7 interfaces, security keys, and access provisioning.

Responsibilities

Analyze VistA applications, menus, HL7 interfaces, and user access to assess transition impacts.
Present technical findings to project leadership and stakeholders.
Conduct VistA usage analysis using reports and dashboards to identify trends.
Develop implementation playbooks, VUE reports, and transition recommendations.
Support site readiness, cutover, deployment, and post-implementation validation.
Present findings and recommendations to teams and leadership.
Ensure quality and completeness of implementation deliverables and docs.
Recommend transition improvements based on analysis and feedback.
Contribute to continuous improvement of VistA transition processes.
