Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Deputy Project Manager to support planning, coordination, and execution of complex VA initiatives, including VistA transition and EHR modernization. The role is fully remote within the United States, with core business hours 8:00 AM–5:00 PM ET and periodic weekend support during deployments.

Ideal candidates have extensive federal civilian agency experience, strong problem-solving and leadership skills, and the ability to translate strategic direction into action.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, or related field.
• 15+ years of work experience required; 10 years may substitute for the degree.
• Experience leading geographically dispersed teams in a remote environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
• Experience in operating in an agile environment is desirable but not required.
• Experience within a large Enterprise Health IT environment, VA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in planning, coordination, and execution of complex VA initiatives.
• Coordinate activities across technical SMEs, Data Analysts, and project teams.
• Translate client requirements into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
• Monitor scope, schedule, risks, dependencies, issues, and resources.
• Identify emerging requirements and develop practical solutions before impact.
