Job summary

Skyward Specialty Insurance Group in the United States seeks an experienced claims professional to manage complex surety claims and provide legal support to underwriting and leadership. This remote role requires strong surety claims experience and sound legal judgment in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in surety bond claims handling.
• In-house experience in a surety claims department preferred.
• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school required.
• State Claims Adjuster license strongly preferred.
• ABA/TIPS/FSLC membership a plus.

Responsibilities

• Independently adjust complex contract and commercial surety bond claims across jurisdictions.
• Select, retain and manage outside claims counsel and related resources.
• Set well-reasoned reserves and control claims-handling costs and expenses.
• Attend mediations, arbitrations and trials as needed.
• Draft claim reports for underwriting and management.
• Assist in front-end surety transactions and review bond forms.
• Develop legal resources and training materials for Skyward Surety.
• Provide education on key legal issues involving surety bonds and claims.
• Research and report on legal developments in the surety field.
• Promote a culture of personal responsibility, accountability and open communication.
• Other duties as assigned.
