Skyward Specialty is seeking an experienced claims attorney to manage complex surety claims and support underwriting and leadership. The role requires strong surety claims experience, legal judgment, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced remote environment.

Responsibilities include adjusting complex claims across jurisdictions, managing outside counsel, setting reserves, and drafting reports and indemnity/underwriting documents. A J.D.

Qualifikationen

• At least 2 years of surety bond claims experience.
• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school required.
• State Claims Adjuster license strongly preferred.
• In-house experience in a surety claims department preferred.

Aufgaben

• Independently adjust complex contract and commercial surety claims across jurisdictions.
• Manage outside counsel and related resources to optimize outcomes.
• Set well-reasoned reserves and control claims-handling costs.
• Attend mediations, arbitrations and trials as needed.
• Draft claim reports for underwriting and management.
• Assist in creating or revising surety claim/underwriting forms and documents.
• Draft indemnity and collateral agreements and review bond forms.
• Develop legal resources and training for Skyward Surety.
• Educate underwriting staff on key legal issues involving surety bonds and claims.
• Research and report on legal developments in the surety field.
• Promote accountability and ethical policies in all operations.
