Job summary

Vaco is hiring a Sr. Payroll & Benefits Specialist for a fully remote, growth-oriented role. You will collaborate with Finance and HR across the organization to ensure accurate bi-weekly payroll processing for multiple states and manage complex benefits programs.

The ideal candidate brings 7–10+ years of payroll/benefits experience, deep knowledge of payroll laws, and CPP/CEBS certification is preferred. Strong Excel skills and experience with BambooHR Payroll are required.

Qualifications

• 7-10+ years of progressive payroll and benefits administration experience.
• Full-cycle, multi-state payroll experience.
• Strong benefits administration experience.
• Tax compliance experience.
• CPP or CEBS certification strongly preferred.
• Experience with BambooHR Payroll or similar HRIS/payroll systems.

Responsibilities

• Process and validate bi-weekly multi-state payroll accurately and on schedule
• Manage payroll-related activities including bonuses, commissions, reimbursements, garnishments, and off-cycle payrolls
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• Coordinate payroll activities related to employee onboarding and terminations
• Administer employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and retirement plans
• Support annual open enrollment activities and employee benefit inquiries
• Review and reconcile benefit carrier invoices and payroll deductions
• Assist with payroll, benefit, and 401(k) audits
• Respond to payroll tax notices and support tax compliance activities
• Prepare payroll reporting and analysis for Finance and HRIdentify opportunities for process improvements and implementation of best practices
