Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 5+ years of underwriting individual disability insurance.
• $15K+ approval authority in individual disability insurance underwriting.

Responsibilities

• Serve as product and underwriting SME through field training, industry events, conferences, and ongoing partner education.
• Deliver competitive underwriting decisions that prioritize business placement while maintaining profitability and morbidity expectations.
• Provide exceptional service and consultation to agents, brokers, field office staff, and business partners on underwriting and risk related matters.
• Communicate underwriting decisions clearly and effectively to support customer understanding and business outcomes.
• Apply strong underwriting expertise to assess risks, gather relevant information, and make sound decisions, even in complex or ambiguous situations.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders through effective communication, collaboration, and emotional intelligence.
• Drive continuous improvement by influencing process enhancements, championing change, and supporting operational excellence.
• Mentor and coach less experienced underwriters while providing technical guidance on complex underwriting and customer service issues.
