Job summary

Illinois Mutual is seeking a Senior Underwriter for Individual Disability Income Insurance. The role combines underwriting authority with leadership, reviewing larger or more complex cases and guiding junior staff.

The Senior Underwriter will liaise with field agents, assess medical and financial information, and ensure compliance with relevant rules and company policies in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a related field or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years of progressive underwriting experience with a proven track record.
• Strong service orientation to understand and satisfy customer needs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite individual disability income applications within policy guidelines.
• Approve or escalate larger/complex cases with authority to senior staff.
• Collaborate with field force to gather information for decisions.
• Provide training and guidance to less experienced staff.
• Represent the company at meetings and industry events.
