Job summary

Coalition is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to define the enterprise Data & Analytics platform's architecture. You will build scalable data infrastructure for cyber security, insurance analytics, BI, actuarial workflows, and AI/ML products to drive better risk decisions.

You will lead architecture across teams, mentor engineers, and help scale our data products while ensuring data quality, security, and regulatory readiness. This role is remote-first with strong collaboration across the Data team.

Qualifications

• 9–12 years building and operating production data platforms.
• Deep expertise with Snowflake and dbt, incl. performance optimization and cost management.
• Strong Python and SQL skills; experience with dimensional models or Data Vault 2.0.
• Experience with batch and streaming pipelines using Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.
• Ability to lead architecture, mentor engineers, and set durable standards.

Responsibilities

• Set architecture and standards for Snowflake, dbt, orchestration, and infra-as-code.
• Design governed pipelines and domain data models for insurance and security data.
• Build reusable data products, contracts, feature stores, and semantic models.
• Establish observability, quality, lineage, security, and incident practices.
• Develop platform foundations for feature engineering, embeddings, and AI apps.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to align architecture with outcomes.
