Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Release Train Engineer to lead cross‑mission delivery and orchestration of complex program plans at the Irving, TX site.

You will connect plans, milestones, risks, decisions, and evidence into one disciplined execution flow, while preserving accountability across product, TPM, architecture, and delivery teams. You will drive integrated release planning, dependency management, and readiness forums, enabling safer, more productive operations on real jobsites.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of practices used to plan, organize, monitor, and control a set of related projects and technical work to achieve objectives.
• Ability to distinguish facts, assumptions, forecasts, and judgments; evaluate alternatives and drive timely decisions.
• Translate objectives into an integrated, executable plan with sequencing, dependencies, checkpoints, and recovery paths.
• Knowledge of change-control processes including evaluation, approval, communication, and documentation.
• Ability to align diverse stakeholders, clarify roles, and influence without direct authority.
• Monitor execution health, reconcile sources, and report decision-relevant status.
• Identify systemic impediments, perform root-cause analysis, and coordinate resolutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead integrated release planning and maintain a reconciled execution plan across mission teams.
• Operate the critical path, baseline, forecast views, dependencies, and recovery triggers.
• Manage cross-mission and cross-organization dependency flow with clear suppliers and deadlines.
• Run cross-team execution cadences and readiness forums to turn risks into accountable follow-up.
• Coordinate release and milestone readiness, including entry/exit criteria and go/no-go.
• Oversee change-control and replanning to ensure changes are evaluated and traceable.
• Reconcile execution information across Azure DevOps and other plans; surface conflicts.
• Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives and measurable operating-system improvements.
• Provide concise execution transparency to Portfolio leadership on threats and decisions.
