Job summary

Georgia Transmission is seeking an experienced Senior Relay & Control Engineer to advance advanced electrical design for distribution substations and generator interconnection facilities. You will independently develop, evaluate, and apply engineering standards, working within corporate teams and with external utilities.

The role requires 10+ years in power systems, strong expertise in protective relays, RTU/communications, and leadership responsibilities; travel is expected to support project

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in a power related field, with four (4) years with P.E., in power system environment, and at least three years in system protection, relay and control design or substation testing.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience (six with P.E.) in power system environment, with at least four years in system protection, relay and control design or substation testing and at least two years in leadership responsibilities.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years (eight with P.E.) of electric utility experience in power system engineering and design with at least six (6) years in System Protection and Control and at least three years in supervisory or leadership roles.
  • Specialized skills include knowledge of symmetrical components, electrical control theory, protective relay functions, CADD, Microsoft Office, RTU/communication equipment, DFR/SERs, power line carrier, and ability to interpret one-line and wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement relay and control design solutions for GTC transmission and interconnection facilities.
  • Develop, evaluate and apply engineering guidelines, procedures, and standards.
  • Represent Relay & Control Design in corporate teams and interfaces to Member Systems and other utilities.
  • Provide supervision to junior engineers and guide critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
  • Travel as needed to support project execution and design reviews.
